1. Who we are
Trade Caravan (tradecaravan.co.za) is a South African supply chain information platform operated as a sole proprietorship. Contact: admin@tradecaravan.co.za
2. What information we collect
We collect information you provide directly:
- Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter or alerts
- Name and company — when you register for an account or submit a directory application
- Phone/WhatsApp number — only when you opt in to WhatsApp alerts
- Calculator inputs — only if you choose to save a calculation (stored against your account)
We also collect anonymised usage data (page views, tool usage counts) via server logs. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking scripts on content pages.
3. How we use your information
- To send you the newsletter or alerts you subscribed to
- To connect you with service providers when you submit a lead form (with your explicit consent)
- To personalise your experience (saved calculations, recently viewed)
- To contact you about your directory listing application
We never sell your personal information. We never share it with third parties except the specific service provider you consented to be connected with.
4. Email and WhatsApp alerts
We send email via Brevo (Sendinblue) and WhatsApp via Twilio. By subscribing, you consent to receiving messages from these platforms on our behalf. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing us.
5. Payments
Payments are processed by PayFast. We do not store your card details. PayFast is PCI-DSS compliant. See PayFast's privacy policy for their data handling practices.
6. Cookies
We use a single session cookie for authentication (if you log in) and a localStorage key for recently viewed articles. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
7. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information at any time. To exercise these rights, email admin@tradecaravan.co.za. We will respond within 10 business days.
8. Data retention
Newsletter subscribers are retained until you unsubscribe. Account data is retained while your account is active and for 12 months after deletion. Lead data is retained for 24 months for billing reconciliation.
