Our 4-step verification process
CIPC Registration Check
We confirm the company is actively registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC). We verify the registration number, company name, and current status. Deregistered, dissolved, or dormant entities are not eligible for the Verified badge.
SARS Tax Compliance
Applicants must provide a valid SARS Tax Compliance Status (TCS) pin or confirmation of good standing. For customs brokers and clearing agents, we additionally confirm the company's SARS Customs Client Number (CCN) and active customs registration — the prerequisite for legally clearing goods on behalf of importers and exporters.
Category-Specific Accreditation
Each service category carries its own regulatory requirements. We check the relevant accreditation or membership for the category the company lists under:
Contact & Address Verification
We confirm the business email domain matches the registered company, verify a working South African phone number, and cross-reference the stated city and province against the CIPC registered address. Anonymous P.O. box-only listings are not eligible.

How long does verification take?
We aim to review all applications within 2 business days. You'll receive an email confirming the outcome. If we need additional documents, we'll contact you before making a decision.
What if my company doesn't pass verification?
We'll email you explaining the specific gap — for example, an expired TCS pin or missing CCA number. You can rectify the issue and reapply at no additional cost. Starter listings (free) remain live during this process; they simply don't carry the Verified badge.
Can I report a verified company for misconduct?
Yes. Email [email protected] with your complaint and supporting documentation. We investigate all substantiated reports and will suspend the listing pending review. Fraud or criminal complaints should also be reported to SAPS and the relevant regulatory body (SARS, FSCA, etc.).
Is the Verified badge the same as a government licence?
No. The Trade Caravan Verified badge confirms that we have checked the credentials listed above at the time of application. It is not a substitute for due diligence on your part, and we make no warranty regarding the ongoing conduct or performance of listed companies. Always request a formal quotation, check references, and use written contracts.
