Paid report · by Trade Caravan
On 1 January 2028 the world's tariff code book changes to HS 2028. Send us your product list and we'll show you, line by line, which of your codes stay the same, get a new number, or split into several options.
The report
One line in your report for every product line you send, with what HS 2028 means for its code.
One-off, paid upfront
Pick the report that fits the size of your product list. You see your line count and price as soon as you upload.
Custom quote for your file. PDF report, paid securely online by card once you accept.
Trade Caravan is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged.
Ready-in times count from cleared payment and a readable file, and the clock pauses while we wait for your answer to a question. Your quote shows the turnaround that applies.
When ordering opens, you'll pay by card through our secure online checkout. Payment is by card online only, in full before work starts.
Advisory only. Every line is mapped by hand, and split and 'ex' lines are reviewed line by line by our tariff specialist before your report is released.
South African lines show 'Pending SARS' until SARS publishes South Africa's 8-digit HS 2028 tariff.
Not affiliated with the WCO or SARS.
Advisory only, not a SARS tariff determination. Read the HS 2028 report terms.
Need the duty rate for a single code? Use the HS Code & Duty Lookup or the Duty & VAT Calculator.

Why it matters
Most codes don't change. Some split into several new codes, and only someone who knows the product can say which one fits. That's why a person on our team reviews every split and 'ex' line before your report is released.
Every report is released by our tariff specialist.
WCO HS 2022–2028 correlation tables at 6-digit level, plus our own analysis.
Where a code splits or part-moves, we list every candidate. We never pick one for you.
Plain facts
Send only product codes, descriptions and tariff codes, with no names or contact details.
We use your file only to prepare your report and keep it in restricted storage.
We delete your files 90 days after delivery, or sooner if you ask us. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information under POPIA.
The kinds of change
A 6-digit code can stay put, take a new number, or split or merge. The report says which of those happened for each line you send.
| Change | What it means | What the report does |
|---|---|---|
| Stays the same | The 6-digit code keeps its number. | Marked as unchanged. |
| New number | One code becomes one new code. | Listed as a one-to-one change. |
| Split, merge or "ex" | One code becomes several, several become one, or part of the goods move. | Every candidate is listed. We do not choose one for you. |
Before the new book
Customs brokers and clearing agents can order the same report for a client's product list. It lists every candidate code and does not pick one. It is advisory, and it is not a SARS tariff determination.
HS 2028 is the next edition of the Harmonized System, the world's tariff code book. It applies from 1 January 2028. Some 6-digit codes get new numbers, some split into several codes and some merge. South Africa's tariff book is built on the Harmonized System, so South African codes change with it.
Importers, exporters and manufacturers in South Africa who keep a list of tariff codes, for example in an ERP, a product master file or broker instructions. If you have more than a handful of codes, the report shows you which ones change and which need your customs broker's attention. Most codes don't change, and the report shows you which of yours do.
That's up to SARS. Until SARS publishes South Africa's 8-digit HS 2028 codes, every South African line in your report shows "Pending SARS". We map your codes at 6-digit level and list every possible new code.
No. The report is advisory. Only a SARS tariff determination binds. Confirm every code with your customs broker or SARS before you rely on it.
When ordering opens, you'll upload a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file with three columns: product code (optional), product description and tariff code. 6- or 8-digit codes are fine.
