A logistics partner that manages your entire supply chain on your behalf, including coordinating and supervising the 3PLs, transporters and forwarders who do the physical work. Where a 3PL owns trucks and warehouses, a 4PL typically owns the control tower: systems, planning, carrier selection and performance management. Companies use a 4PL when they want one accountable party for the whole chain without building that capability in-house.
