Cargo that exceeds the internal dimensions of a standard container — too tall, too wide or too long — and must ship on flat racks or open-top containers with the excess protruding. OOG cargo pays premium rates, needs special stowage planning, and lines accept it subject to space on each vessel. Once landed, the same dimensions usually make it an abnormal load on South African roads, requiring permits and possibly escorts for the inland leg.
