This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) forms part of our Terms of Use and applies to everyone who uses the Service.
1. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of South African law, including the Cybercrimes Act.
- Scrape, crawl or harvest data from the Service except as we expressly permit.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
- Circumvent or probe security, authentication or rate limits, or access accounts or data that are not yours.
- Resell, sublicense or redistribute Service data (including Vessel/AIS data) without our written permission.
- Overload or disrupt the Service or any API — including excessive automated requests or denial-of-service activity.
- Infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights, or upload unlawful, defamatory, abusive or malicious content (including malware).
- Misrepresent your identity or impersonate others.
2. Security & data responsibilities
Keep your credentials secure, use the Service in a way that protects personal information, and tell us promptly if you discover a vulnerability or suspect unauthorised access. These obligations support our POPIA security duties.
3. Consequences of breach
If you breach this AUP we may, depending on severity, warn you, throttle or suspend your access, remove offending content, terminate your account, and where appropriate report the matter to the authorities. We may act immediately where there is a risk to the Service, other users or third parties.
