Do I need a Certificate of Origin to import into South Africa?

Accepted Answer

A Certificate of Origin is required to claim preferential (reduced) duty rates under a trade agreement such as SADC, AfCFTA or the SA-EU agreement. Without it, SARS applies the general duty rate. For goods originating in SADC countries moving by road, a SADC Certificate of Origin (Form CI) is used.

A typical ZA export needs a Commercial Invoice, Packing List, the SARS Export Bill of Entry (SAD 500, required above R100,000), and a Certificate of Origin from a Chamber of Commerce.
