RealView SCM Help

Clear, step-by-step guidance for getting the most out of Real-View.

Getting Started

What Real-View does and the five-minute path from signing in to tracking your first container.

Real-View is the Trade Caravan shipment tracker for South African importers. It watches your ocean containers from the time they leave the origin port until they clear your destination port, and warns you when an arrival slips or a box sits too long at the quay.

You sign in with the Trade Caravan account you already have — there is no separate password to create. This page is the short version; the rest of the help pages go deeper on each step.

The whole flow, start to finish

  1. Sign in. From the Real-View page on Trade Caravan, click Continue to Real-View. You are signed straight in — same account, no new password. See Signing In.
  2. Add a shipment. Enter a container number, bill-of-lading number, or vessel, pick the South African port it is heading to, and save. See Adding a Shipment.
  3. Watch it move. Real-View finds the vessel and shows two arrival dates side by side — the carrier's, and ours (adjusted for local port congestion). See Tracking & ETAs.
  4. Get told when it matters. Turn on alerts so you hear about a slipped ETA, a long port stay, or an arrival without watching the screen. See Alerts & Notifications.
In a hurry? You can have your first container on the board in under five minutes — all you really need is one identifier (a container or BL number) and the port it is sailing to.

What you see first: the dashboard

After signing in you land on the dashboard. It has three things at a glance:

  • Your shipments — how many are active against your plan limit, and how many are in transit or sitting at port.
  • Upcoming arrivals — your next containers in, sorted by ETA, each with its status.
  • SA port congestion — a live read on Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) and Richards Bay, colour-coded from normal to critical, with average dwell days.

Plans in one line

Every Trade Caravan account includes a free Real-View tier; paid Trade Caravan plans bundle a larger tier, and you can upgrade Real-View on its own. The only difference between tiers is how many shipments you can track at once. Full detail is on Plans & Billing.

Real-View is built for South African importers — the supported destination ports are Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) and Richards Bay, and your data is hosted in-country for POPIA compliance.
